The Basic Brave
Starting Gate's founding class is a 12 week course where we work side by side with horses to help humans be better.
Each week we focus on a different life skill - such as building relationships, negotiation, communication, listening and articulation, empathy and more. Each week is strategically placed to build on the skills learned previously.

The basic 12 week course can be broken down to 4, 6 or 8 weeks if the full 12 does not fit in yours or your groups timeline and/or budget. The full 12 is fantastic for groups and for individuals who want to experience this learning in on a more personal level, we can do 4, 6 or 8 weeks. There is zero horse experience necessary to open the gate and be brave in your everyday. You will learn a bit about horses, and even more about yourself.
Already a 'horse person'? Thats awesome - every horseman or horsewoman that has gone through these classes has learned to look at their horse differently and changed their relationship with their horses for the better.
Minimum age requirement of 8 years, maximum age only dependent on physical limitations as we do work outside on uneven ground with horses. Safety is our number one priority and what the horses look for too.

Water provided, no public restroom available but there is a gas station just down the road for before or after. Classes are approximately 1.5 hours in length and include both classroom and outdoor time with the horses. Class sizes are limited to 8 people maximum per visit. The same group each time works best for maximized learning opportunities. We can't wait to see you open the gate!
